you're never to old for the fair

This past weekend Adam & I went to the Manatee County Fair with our friends Chris & Lauren Denorfia (Chris plays for the Padres). The main reason we were going was because Jake Owen was playing there, and that's one of Adams favorite country singers. We ended up only watching him play a few songs because we spent the rest of the time on the rides. I had originally told everyone that I was not going to step foot on any of the rides, but after Adam spent $20 on the "unlimited rides" wristband, I kind of felt obligated. So off we were to the rides, and luckily I didn't die. Although, after the Gravitron, I sure did feel like I was going to.No really, I thought that I really might have a brain aneurysm after that. It messed me up homie! I'm not gonna lie, there were some pretty redneck people there, which leads me to the Robinson's Pig Paddlin' Porkers. It was a pig racing show and ohmysweetbabyJesusInHeaven it was hi-larious. I don't even know where to begin to explain this to you, so just trust me on this one.

Once we were about done, Lauren and I decided we wanted to ride the mechanical bull. Her husband bet that Lauren could stay on longer than I could, and Adam also bet that she would too..so the pressure was on for me to win! But, let's get real here, I've never been on a mechanical bull before so I was one scared little pup! Not to mention, there were like 5,000 people watching me and we could only use one hand to hold on. Lauren only paid to ride one time, and she stayed on for 16 seconds...and well, just watch the videos to find out how I did.

Here is my 2nd go at it...we ended up both staying on for 16 seconds. I don't know about her, but I am still sore from being thrown around! Please note that they are playing the Spice Girls "Say You'll Be There" and I decided to get cocky and sing a long as I am trying to stay on..that's when the guy says "well, we will take care of that..." then starts spinning the thing in circles..that's what I get, I guess..

This last video is of the mirror maze that we went through. Now, on this particular video, Adam attempts to narrate through the whole thing, but nobody is listening to him which you will see right when the video starts. He tries to talk to me but I completely ignore him and go on with my merry way. Poor thing..

Let's talk baseball

As most of you know, this off season Adam became a free agent (meaning his contract with the Angels is up, and he will sign with another team).  It's very exciting, but realllly nerve racking too! Once you're a free agent, you start making more money, which is always thebomb.com.  The downside is that you never know if you're going to be picked up by another team!  And considering that Adam didn't quite have the season he was hoping for last year, it's making it that much more stressful!  But, his agent has been talking to several teams lately.  Nothing is nailed down yet, but Adams name has been mentioned so hopefully something works out!  At first he was talking to Washington DC (Nationals), Seattle (Mariners), Texas (Rangers), and Kansas City (Royals).  Since then, DC and Seattle have dropped out, and I can't exactly remember what happened with Kansas.  To be honest..I might have made Kansas up..but I'm not sure about that either..moving on though.  Yesterday Adam talked to his agent and he said that Texas is still interested and so is the Baltimore Orioles!  We are really pulling for Texas though, their triple-a is in Oklahoma City and according to Adam has "the sickest stadium in the league"...or whatever he said (you can tell I really pay attention, huh?). A cool thing about the Orioles though is right now, we literally live one mile from the spring training stadium.  Seriously, I could walk to every game. Ahem, not that I would though.  I'm just sayin' it's possible..if I wasn't so lazy.  But PEOPLE...do you know how awsome it would be to not have to move again for a few more months?!?! Ahhhhhh, the thought of it is glorious.  Anywho, back to reality.  All in all, any team would be amazing, but we really like the two mentioned above :)

I'm not gonna lie, I would love for Adam to sign back with the Angels solely for the fact that I could keep all my friends.  I tell Adam all the time that I don't want to make new friends, I want all of my homies back!  It's going to be really weird with out all of them around.  And I know I will make new friends, I just don't want to.  I feel so close to all of these girls because ever since Adam and I have been together, they are the only girls I have known! Adam has been in Salt Lake for so long that I think anything different is going to feel pretty weird.  And I realllllllly don't like being the "new girl".  There is always a chance that some of us will cross paths again though, and who knows, maybe Adam and some of his old team mates from SLC will sign with the same team and we will be together again! Yehaw!!!!!!

Well, as we hear more we will definitely keep everyone updated.  We've got a little bit of time before spring training starts, but still keep us in your prayers that we will sign with a team before then!  Keeping the faith is the hardest part, but I know God has a plan for us, so we will be patient until then!

Lots of pictures below!

best day ever!!

Today, I got the best news evah! My Dad called me after his doctors appointment and told me that he doesn't have to have chemo!!! Praise the Lord!!! All he has to do now is 6 weeks of radiation everyday, and (I think) once a week he will get something called Erbitux.  I'm not exactly sure what the Erbitux is, but you can Google it if you want.  I am so relieved, you just don't even know.  Although it's still not going to be a fun ride, it's nothing like chemo.  I was so worried about chemo for my Dad.  I wasn't scared that he wasn't going to make it or anything, nothing like that at all, I was just didn't want him to be scared.   He is always the strong one, & the thought of him worrying about what was going to happen in the next few weeks, totally got to me.  But now (!!!!!!) we are not worried at all!! And that's a huge weight off all our shoulders! Phhewww!! Thank you Jesus!!

So, now Uncle Dave is in remission, and soon my Dad will also be cancer free..and just let me tell you, I couldn't be happier!!!!

Love You Daddy-O!!

last time, I promise!!

Hey peeps, it's Lindsay! Soooo, after many-a-times talking about our blogs, Adam & I decided to just have one blog again..meaning, this blog. Yehaw! Adam & I felt like once I made my own blog, this one was kind of pointless. But we wanted to keep this one considering it's been the main one we've used for the past few years. I created my own blog so I could talk about things other than baseball, like wedding planning & stuff..and I still want to talk about that, but it will just be on this blog! So, consider yourself warned,my friends, that this blog will be about everything that goes on..not just baseball :)

Ok, I am rambling now, so let me get to work on making the layout for old faithful!!

PS..our old email list will still be sent out, but the subjects to the emails will kind of let you know what the post is about. For example, if it's a post about a wedding update it will be something like "Lindsay Wedding Post" or something..that way, if you aren't interested in reading about it then you don't have to..ok really now, I am done.

Happy New Year

I hope everyone had a happy new years. The start of another year brings a lot of excitement for Lindsay and I. 2010 will hopefully bring us to a new baseball team with new teammates and friends and we will be getting married in October. Sounds like a good year! We had a great time down here in Florida for the holidays. We got to spend time with all the family and eat really really well. I helped run our annual baseball clinic at the Venice Little League which has been going on for 23 years. This was the first year myself and Jon Knott were the camp directors and we had a great turn out and the kids had a lot of fun. I really enjoy getting out there with the young kids and teaching them all the stuff that has been taught to me. I also feel like I can connect well with them because I still feel like a kid myself.

We are getting ready to leave on Wednesday Jan 6th for our trip to the National Championship Football game...Texas vs. Alabama. We are so ready for this!!! I know everyone in Tuscaloosa is pumped for this game. We will try and take a bunch of pictures and post them up when we get back. Wish us luck and ROLLTIDE!!!
