bad week for yours truely...

If you're awesome enough to be my friend on FB then you already know what's been happening during the past week! If you don't already know, then get ready for a long (probably boring) update!

Monday night I went to the Alabama basketball game with my cousin Anna Lisa. I had been having some back pain all day long but ignored it because I just assumed it was pregnancy related and everyone tells me that "pregnancy just hurts".  I ended up leaving the game at half time, called Adam and told him I was going to the ER.  They took me straight back (a perk of being knocked up, there were probably 50 people in the waiting room) and Adam finally made it when they were taking me back to a room.  From the very beginning of all the pain that day I knew it was a kidney stone, I've had them before and trust me, you never forget what that feels like.  The nurses took for-ev-er to come to my room which leads me to believe that they've never had a kidney stone before because they would've been in there sooner to give me some pain meds.  Finally, after a few hours, an ultrasound, and some much needed morphine the doctor came in and said it was 2 kidney stones.  One which was still in my kidney, and the other that was out and moving. She gave me the option of going home with some pain medicine or I could be admitted and stay on IV meds.  We chose to go home, I took some more medicine and went to bed.

The next morning I woke up still in pain, but obviously I knew it would hurt to pass so I kept on ignoring it, still taking my medicine (which didn't harm Presley, I asked a billion times) but then got worried when I hadn't really felt her move all morning.  I called my OB and told them what was going on and they told me that my Dr. wanted to see me just to check how things were.  While all of this was going on the pain kept getting worse.  Poor Adam had to deal with me crying like a baby, all. day. long.  Dr. Ray wrote me another prescription for some Demerol and sent me home.  She said if I start throwing up to call her and they will admit me to the hospital.  Went home and BAM...started throwing up, what I believe was (and I may be over exaggerating), gallons and gallons of puke.  During all of this my Mom was with me because Adam had a baseball game.  My Mom called my Dr. and Adam and told them we were going to the hospital.  Adam ended up leaving the game and met us there.

I get admitted, moved up to Labor & Delivery where, conveniently there was only one nurse working on 4 patients.  Blah, Blah, blah, so after more puking, one catheter, two IV attempts, and lots of Demerol later I was finally pain freeeeeeee! Thank ya Jesus! To make the long story short, it took 4 days (and 3 IV's) in the hospital for this sucker to finally stop hurting.  I got discharged without passing the stone, but they say once it enters the bladder the pain stops and it will eventually pass. I don't remember the majority of it except the parts where my pain meds wore off and I was in the most pain I've ever been in...but thankfully I was knocked back out pretty soon once I called the nurse!

I'm still having a little pain, I don't know if it's from the other stone that is in my kidney or what, but I am just taking Loratab when needed for that.  Adam has been so super sweet to me during all of this.  He slept on the most uncomfortable couch ever, got woken up with me every 20 minutes through out the night, and still went to class and baseball on little sleep (when he was gone my Mom was with me!).  So to say that yesterday when I got to shower and sleep in my own bed was ah-may-zing, that's an understatement!

Hopefully I won't be back in the hospital until Presley get's here! If you made it to the end of this post, then brownie points for you!!!!

during the visit to my OB we got this 4d picture of Presley! She's so cute!

I looked at my phone when I got home and apparently Adam enjoyed taking pictures of his unconscious wife!

Going home! Sorry, horrible picture, I'm super greasy ( I did shower at the hospital I promise), but so happy to be going home!

Baby name reveal and pregnancy update

How far along? 21  weeks

Total weight gain/loss:
Officially up 9 pounds...and I've also decided to stop looking at the numbers on the scale at my doctor appts from now on.

Maternity clothes?   Pretty much exclusively at this point! Not to mention the "maternity shoes" that I now need because apparently when you're knocked up your feet get fatter too.

Stretch marks?   None so far! I currently have 7 bottles of lotion/body butter on my night stand and I alternate every night.  So I guess if I make it through this without stretch marks I will never know which lotion helped..or if it's just in my genes! My Mom had 3 kids (and gained 50 pounds with all of us) and never got any...and if you really want to know, my Grandmother didn't get any either.  So there is hope!

Sleep: Is most definitely totally for sure getting worse.  I'm getting to the stage where I can't get comfortable and I get hot...I can't even imaging what it's going to be like when I'm the size of a whale and it's July.
OMG KILL ME NOW!

Best moment this week: Adam has finally felt her kick! He had his hand on my stomach and she kicked pretty hard.  He jerked his hand away and said,"Oh my Gosh!! You have a human inside of you!!!!!!"

Thank you, as if I didn't already know that Genius!

Movement: All the time.  Mainly in the most inconvenient times of the day but I'm not going to complain too much about that!

Food cravings:  Fruit and cereal! Look at me, being all healthy and all! Oh, wait, yes.  Yes I did just devour a huge cheeseburger and bag of fries from Five Guys.

Gender: Still a girl! Although I keep having these horrible thoughts of her maybe being a boy, like after all the clothes, bedding, dolls, and stuff that has been bought in pink.

Labor Signs: None!

Belly button in or out?  In for now.

What I miss: Being able to bend over without turning blue in the face.  I went to the shoe store last night and looked like the biggest freak trying to bend over and put shoes on.  I predict this is only going to get worse.

What I am looking forward to: Three things:
1) Our 4-D ultrasound on April 14th
2) Spring Break to be over with so I don't cry while looking at everyone's beach pics. Jealousy doesn't even begin to cover it.
3) April 9th because OH MY GOD I'M GOING TO THE BEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekly Wisdom:   Just totally ignore other people's birth stories.  For example, one of my clients today said,"Oh my gosh, I would totally tell you what happened to me during labor but it would totally freak you out.  Like my epidural COMPLETELY wore off right before I started to push.".....I'm all, "I thought you weren't going to tell me..I WISH YOU DIDN'T TELL ME!"

Milestones: 126 days to go! That sure does seem like a long time though!

Well, in other news a lot has happened! Most importantly though, behold...she has a name!

*Presley Grace*

What's even more impressive is that there wasn't even a knock-down-drag-out between Toasty and I about this! Naming this little meatball has been very difficult for me.  There weren't any names that either of us liked except for a select few.  Then, not only do you have to come up with & agree on a first name, but then you have to start thinking all over again and come up with a middle name.  At this point in time I was fresh out of being able to compromise so  it was pretty much whatever Adam wanted.  So Grace it is.  It has no personal significance to it, he just likes it.  The only counter-offer I had was Presley Danielle- for two reasons:
1) Danielle is my middle name
2) Her initials would be PDP and I could call her P-Dizzle.  Because I'm mature like that.

Anywho, in other news...not only does she have a name but she also has a bed to sleep in! Can I get an AMEN??

Turns out, I have the best family in the world and my Aunt LuLu & Melanie offered to buy her baby bed and dresser.  Seriously, like what did I do to deserve all this?!  My Mom and I made a trip to Babies R Us and found exactly what we need.  We got it ordered and they told us it would arrive in 7-14 business days, but tonight they called and said it was already in.  I am going to go pick it up on Monday!

This is the bed, it looks black here but it's Espresso.  We wanted to keep it simple and it was on sale.  So there ya go...sold! It turns into a toddler bed and a full size bed also.
We were going to get the longer dresser thingy that you can put a diaper changing pad on but it only had 3 drawers (with a little door/cabinet thing) but then opted for the chest of drawers.  It looks short in this picture but isn't short in real life.  I figured we Adam would most likely be changing diapers on the bed/couch/floor instead so this is what we got.

Now the only thing we need is a rug, glider chair, and wall decor.  My best friends Mom is going to paint some canvases that matches Presleys bedding! I also want to get a hair bow holder, and a pretty mirror.

While in Birmingham my Mom and I went to BuyBuyBaby which, if you didn't know, is like Bed Bath & Beyond but better because it's all baby stuff! We seriously spent two hours in there! My Mom bought this for Pres and it's perfect!

Well, I had hoped to write more, but it's my bed time because someone has to work in the morning.  Why doesn't everyone get spring break?

WWWWHHHHHYYYYYYYY???????????

20 weeks

How far along? 20  weeks

Total weight gain/loss:
I think around 8 pounds..going to the doctor on Monday and we will know for sure! EEK!

Maternity clothes?   I have plenty of shirts, but need to get some more pants!

Stretch marks?   I don't think stretch marks are going to be the problem here.  What is going to be a problem is these little tiny red dots I'm getting on my arms and chest.  My Mom said she got them when she was pregnant, but I don't think she got as many as I have, I hope these little boogers go away!

Sleep: Oh, well, not so great, but thanks for asking.  I have a husband who 1) talks obnoxiously in his sleep. 2) elbows me in the face in his sleep. 3) sleeps in the dead middle of the bed.  Then on top of that, we live on the college campus where stupid loud college students scream at the top of their lungs all night long.  Then on top of the top, my bladder is the size of a grape and I have a child who is squashing my already small bladder so I wake up to pee every hour.

So, obviously sleep for me has just been stupendous.....

Best moment this week: BEHOLD! There has finally been a memorable "best moment" that is note worthy! I can definitely feel her moving and flipping around.  I've been torturing her every day by shining a flash light on my stomach to get her moving.  I love it!

Movement: Prime time for movement is early in the morning and late at night.  On the rare occasion that I do see my husband (which is very very rare) I will try to get him to feel.  But honestly his hands are always ice cold, and that ain't happnin' on my tummy. He's gotta warm those suckers up first!

Food cravings:  Frosties! I mean, my appetite is pretty big these days.  The only this I don't crave is steak or chicken. But give me a corn dog and I'm all over it!

Gender: la muchacha! I also think we officially have a name...but no announcing it yet! I will give you a hint though that her initials will most definitely probably maybe but totally for sure be PGP

Labor Signs: No labor signs yet!

Belly button in or out?
In..but getting bigger!

What I miss: The beach.  I think I'm having spring break withdrawals.  Everyone here is getting ready  to go to the beach for SB and frankly, I'm jealous.  I think I've told Adam every day for the past week that I want have to get to the beach soon.  Until then I will have to settle with my Fake Bake for my tan.

What I am looking forward to: Doctors appt on Monday, and we will set up our appt for our 4-D ultrasound while we are there!

Weekly Wisdom:   Don't watch One Born Every Minute.  If you do, only do it to take notes of what you won't do while in labor...for instance: I will not be screaming," THE RING OF FIRE!!! THE RING OF FIRE!!" while pushing my child out.  Seriously, if you take anything from this blog, it's to just stay-the-heck-away from any show having to do with child birth.

Milestones: I have officially survived half of a pregnancy!!!...which sounds awesome except for the fact that I was unaware of it for the first 5 weeks...oh my hell, I've still got a long way to go.  Lord, be with me.

i'll take "journal entries from 1993" for $500

While going through an old cedar chest, I stumbled upon this notebook of pure brilliance.  Also known as, my journal from 1st grade.  Apparently in elementary school we were required to write (and turn in) our entries.  I can only hope that Baby P gets my writing skills...

Translated: "Tonight Robby can't sleep with me because he wipes his boogers on his pillow and I don't like it.  Sometimes he wipes it on my bed and I don't like that."

I'm going to guess that my older brothers booger wiping wasn't our only issue...Looks like we also couldn't find comfortable sleeping positions!

Bonus points to me for being super awesome in 1993!
