trip to the ER

Almost two weeks ago Presley was super sick! It all started when I picked her up from school on Monday (the 9th) and she felt very warm, like she had a fever.  I thought maybe it was just from teething but then I remembered that she coughed a lot during the night.  I brought her home to take her temperature and it was 102.5! Yowzas! I gave her some Tylenol and it went down..yay!

She coughed all night that night, woke up very wheezy, was so congested that she would throw up everything she would eat, and still had a temp.  I had already taken off work since the babes have to be fever free (without any Tylenol or Motrin) for 24 hours.  I was sad that she was sick, but pretty pumped about a snuggle day with my favorite little meatball!

She was still very sick so I called her pediatricians office.....

WHO WAS CLOSED BECAUSE OF THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!

KSDHIF;ASLDIFJOAE;IJF'odfj;asfdk'Eopifrp3ew9urdkfjdsk;LAKSFJDSLIFH!

Seriously.

So I waited until the next morning and we went to the doctor.  Her pediatrician listened to her chest for about 2 seconds and said she was fine, then she looked in her ears and said she had an ear infection.  Okay.  Got some meds and went on with our merry way.

**just a little side note here: I took P's temp before we went and it was around 102 (btw, I go the bunghole route..joy!).  Her ped took it in her ear and it was 97...so obviously they need to find a more practical way to take a baby's temperature. That big ear thermometer clearly doesn't fit in a childs ear....**

P was still running a high temp and even more wheezy and raspy by the next day, so on Thursday night I took her to a little doc-in-a-box (American Family Care by Publix) and this doctor (crackhead) prescribed her some cough meds and another antibiotic.  The cough meds worked but we still continued to give her the antibiotic her ped gave her.

THE NEXT NIGHT (Friday night)! Still just as bad...maybe a little worse..

By this point the wheezing was so bad that I could tell she was having trouble breathing, I got a little worried and sent a video to my bff, Kristen, who is a NICU nurse and I figured she probably knows better than I do if I should take her to the ER or not and she said that it wouldn't be a bad idea.

I was super thrilled about going to the ER on a Friday night!

We fed Presley dinner then headed out.  Thankfully there wasn't too many people there, but we even got to skip the waiting room and head straight back.

Presley was a beast because it was bedtime and she kept having horrible coughing fits.  As soon as we got into the room she puked all over her hospital gown! LOVELY! But after a negative RSV test, a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia, a Rocephin shot, a breathing treatment, and a steroid shot...we were done!

The doctor said she was surprised that her RSV test came back negative because she had every symptom of it. (side note: a child across the hall in her preschool had RSV and it turns out that a baby in her classroom had it...so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it actually was!)

We are now recovered and back into our normal routine.  When she was sick she was not eating or sleeping like she normally was...so this Mama is glad her baby is much better!

If you made it this far then you just won 489,535,670 brownie points from me!
At her pediatrician on Wednesday!

In the ER on Friday
Sick baby!

Breathing Treatment!
Finally home!

babino #2

Did that title have you a little scared?! HA!

Nope, I'm not knocked up...yet.

But lately I have been thinking about things that I would like to do differently for our next child.  We have learned so many lessons with Presley, and obviously we can't go back and change things, but we can be more prepared for the next lucky little tyke that we have!

First off, I will try harder to breastfeed.  I am, by no means, against formula..it's just that uhhh, hello?! We have the poors.  And that shizz is expensive! Especially when you have a little drama baby who is lactose intolerant and can only drink Soy based formula.  RUDE!  If you can recall, I BF'ed for about 45 seconds and was all,"Um thanks.  But no thanks." Not to mention I could pump for hours on end and only produce about 5 ounces.

Also, I would like to do the Moms On Call seminars.  I've read several blogs of new moms who have learned so much from them and pretty much all of them have success stories about their baby sleeping through the night at only a few weeks old.  HELLO! Doesn't that sound like Heaven?
When Presley was only a few weeks old I remember the only thing I ever wanted was for her to sleep.  I hated bed time and getting up during the night was, by far, the worst thing ever.  Thankfully she was super cute and always smiling during those feedings, so I survived.  I don't do well without sleep.  I'm a raging hormonal casserole and the world is just a better place when LDizzle has had some shut eye.

The next baby is totally getting shafted in the clothing department.  Unless it's another girl who just happens to be born in the same "season" as Presley.  Otherwise, I'm buying about 10 outfits and that's all it's going to wear.  I just got done packing up all of Presleys smaller clothes and holy crapola! She only wore, like, 1/4 of them! It's so dumb to buy so many clothes for a baby who is just going to wear them for such a short amount of time! I know it's hard to resist, especially girl clothes.  They're so cute! But for reals. 10 outfits.

Another thing I will do more of with #2 is more tummy time.  We have no reason as to why we didn't do it with P, we just didn't.  Not that it's all that important though, her muscles are nice and strong anyways.  But, for some reason I would like to do it more with the next one.

That's all I can come up with right now.  Everything else that we do with Presley I'm pretty satisfied with! I'm sure along the way I will have more and more things that I'd like to do differently!

Now...we just need to get baby #2 here!!!!

six months

Weight:
Homegirl is up to 19 pounds! Go big girl whatchu gon' do?!

Height:
Not sure..we haven't gone to her 6 month check up yet! The only reason I know her weight is because we did make a trip to the doctor a few days ago, but they didn't measure her height!

Clothing Size:
6-9 months in most everything except her sleepers.  It varies by different brands but we buy all of her pi's from The Children's Place and we just moved her into the 9-12 month size! Everything else, clothes wise, she is in 6-9 months!

Diapers:
Size 3, but getting a little snug around her thighs. I'm also still hating Huggies and loving Pampers Cruisers!

Feeding:
Oh boy, I've created a diva in the eating department! When we started solids I was just giving her Gerber or Beechnut.

Then I got all wannabe-hippie and got the Baby Bullet and started making her baby food. Now when I try to give her Gerber/Beechnut? She purses her lips together and turns her head.

Oh no she di-int. Oh yes she did.

On one hand it makes me feel like I've hit the Mommy Jackpot and on the other hand it makes me wonder what the H#!@ I've done to create a picky little monster! She literally leaps for the spoon when I feed her my food! She's not too keen on the fruit though. She really likes her veggies and now I'm wondering where this child actually came from.

This comes from the girl who lives off fast food and could eat McDonald's 24 times a day and was positive that I was going to birth a 7 pound cheeseburger baby.

She is still taking formula every few hours, but I can tell that she's becoming less interested in it.
Hair/Eyes:
She finally has a significant amount of hair.  I'm taking full credit for how much it's grown because I massage her scalp every night during bath time! We've also found a good remedy to keep her cradle cap away.  I wash her hair with California Baby Shampoo, use a fine tooth comb to scrape any of the cradle cap off, then I wash her hair again with a little bit of Head & Shoulders.  Then then THEN when she gets out I put Aquaphor on her head.  She's then a nice little grease ball.

Sleep:
Goes to bed around 7:30 PM and sleeps until about 7:00 AM.  She takes a short morning nap around 9:30, then a longer nap around 12:00! Sometimes she will take a short afternoon nap when we get home but not all the time!

Favorites:
Definitely totally for sure Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I bought The Little Mermaid DVD just hoping that she'd love it too, but nope.  Doesn't care.  I end up watching the movie all alone because she gets bored that there's not an annoying mouse yelling "HOT DOG!!!!" Ahhhhhh!

Food...that's my girl!

She has this one rattle that she loves.  She usually bangs her head with it but I usually don't stop her.  I figure that just a few more times of beating herself up she'll learn to stop!

She only got ONE BILLION toys for Christmas, she loves all of them.

Especially the ones that require batteries and sing really annoying songs.

oh wait.

THAT'S ALL OF THE FREAKIN' TOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fun Stuff:
She is officially a sitter-upper and that makes me happy! I don't want her to ever ever EVER learn how to crawl or walk because then my life is over with,FOREVER!

She can almost hold her bottle by herself! I think she could probably do it all the time right now but she's just lazy.

Gee.  Wonder where she got that from.

I'm about six hundred and eleventy percent sure she has a tooth that's about to break through.  Or at least it better, because homefry chews on her hands like it's her job.  She also drools like there ain't no tomorrow. Which is super annoying because her bibs cover up her cute clothes.

**note to self: don't buy cute clothes for the next baby until they're done teething.  Just buy cute bibs.**

And that's about it!

I can-freakin-not believe that our little PDizzle is 6 months already.  I'm not gonna lie though, the first few months of her little life were kinda.....boring. She just sat there in her swing or bouncy seat..staring at things.  Now that she is showing her personality more and able to sit and play it's way more fun.  I miss her being tiny and stuff, but I'm also glad that she's growing up.  She's got the sweetest face and the funniest personality.  I can't wait to see what she will be like in a few more months!

January 10, 2012

Ooooh Toodles!

Y'all.  Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is taking over my life.

I go to bed at night singing the hot dog song, and wake up singing the hot dog song.

kill. me. now.

This led me to the bright idea of ordering a few new DVD's for the little meatball.  Obviously, I ordered ones that I like to watch since it stays on the TV all day long.

The other day I got online to order The Little Mermaid DVD and it was $40.

FORTY BONES FOR A MOVIE THAT MY CHILD WILL PROBABLY NOT EVEN LIKE!

So I did what any other poor person would do and I got-to-biddin' on eBay...

AND I WON THAT JOKER FOR $18.00!

oh yes I did!

It came in today, which conveniently was also the day that Presley chose to be sick.  So we stayed home and snuggled up to watch the new movie.

Except that I forgot to give her the Tylenol (Benadryl) so she whined and coughed throughout the whole movie.

RUDE!

I ordered another ridiculous movie that my little brother used to watch (Baby Songs) which I'm sure she won't watch, it'll just be another 12+ songs that will be stuck in my head all day...

Anywhoozle, sorry for the lack of updating.  I've pretty much been a single Mom since we've been home from Florida.  Adam stayed at his parents house for a few extra days after I left, then came home for about a day and then left for NOLA to go the big game!

Which, if you haven't heard....

We are the National Champions! #14!

Adam got a student ticket and stayed with a few friends. He was super excited and had a lot of fun!

Let's not forget all of the brownie points I earned by staying at home with our child while he partied it up in The Big Easy. I smell a shopping trip or something in my future!

Honestly, I feel so far behind on blogging that I don't even have the brain cells to go all the way back to Christmas.  It was great, we enjoyed seeing all of our families and friends! Presley met a bunch of new people, and got tons of presents!

We also got her ears pierced while we were in FL!

That was....interesting.

Poor kid...but she's better now! And is sporting some shiny pink diamonds CZ in her little lobes! I'm on the search for some screw-back earrings that were made for a baby!

I'm still super busy at work..turns out people really love getting massages.

Who would thunk it??

Adam starts back to school tomorrow...ONE MORE CLASS PEOPLE!

One class and he will graduate! He asked me if he could take a few extra classes "for fun" and without a blink of an eye I said, "HELL NO!!"

Seriously, who is he? Who takes classes for fun?

Alrighty, well I'm rambling and Presley is obviously pissed about something.

(I just checked on her and she had face planted the carpet)

I'm such a great Mom, y'all!!!

I'll update in a few days with her 6 month stats!

OH MY GOSH!! 6 months, for reals.  I've kept another human alive for 6. whole. months!
