iMac = FRIED!

Thursday night we had a pretty random storm come through.  Adam was out of town and Presley was snoozing when I heard the rain, so I opened up our sliding glass door to check out the weather shenanigans.  Right when I opened the door to go outside...

BAM!

Lightening struck our building....

adslfkjdfglkjds;pkl;'kladlskfjds!

Our power went out and the smoke detectors were going ape shit.  I started running around trying to get them to stop before it woke up the Drama Baby but wasn't having any luck.  After about 5 minutes of me flipping the breakers they went off and Presley was still snoozing.

Fast forward to the next morning.

Adam goes to turn on our computer...and...nothing happened.

We switched outlets.  Still...nothing.

Lightening fried our computer, most likely.

It's at the Apple Genius Bar and they will let us know if it can be repaired.  I just want our pictures off, if that's the least they can do :)

Cross your fingers, toes, legs, arms and say your prayers that this is just a minor issue that can be repaired!

Pdizzle's future room!

ETA: I forgot to post the links to everything on the board but have now added it!

Last week I got a wild hair to move Presley out of her crib.  No reason at all except I just felt it was time!  My Mom has always told me to keep her in her crib as long as we can.  Sounds smart, right? I mean, I could just toss her in there and not worry about her getting up and wondering around in the middle of the night.  Plus, her crib was pretty comfy since we put a super soft egg crate in there.

But, lately we've been ordered (by Lt. Presley) to lay down with her at bed time.  And while I do fit in her crib, it was getting a little cramped with both of us in there.

I sort of just went balls to the wall with it and got the twin sized mattress and box springs out of the storage, put it on the floor, threw her sheets on and told her to go to sleep!

**sidenote: I decided to gradually go with this.  I started out with just the mattress on the floor then a few days later added the box springs.  Next will be the rest of the bed.**

I didn't have time to go buy a bed rail, so I just rolled up two blankets and placed them under her fitted sheets on each side.  They acted as little bumpers and worked perfectly! I have since then put a rail on the side that's not against the wall.

The first night she fell asleep right away and slept like a log. In fact, I had to wake her up at 8:30 the next morning.  I, on the other hand, didn't sleep a wink because I was glued to the video monitor (WTH did we do before those?)

It's been a week and I think we are ready to bring up the bed rails, head board and foot board.  It is currently in my Dads storage unit and I would like to paint it.

The only thing that's really holding me back from re-doing her room is that our lease ends exactly 2 months.  So, do I go through all of the trouble of searching around for the stuff, set it up and then just take it all back out a few weeks later?

Or do I hold off and start fresh at our next place?

Where we live right now has horrible mustard colored walls which ruin everything.  I'm leaning towards waiting until we move.

For now, here is what I have been envisioning.  It's a pretty crappy board I put together but, you get the picture :)

And obviously, it won't be these exact items.  I am planning on scouring Craigslist for most of it and painting things myself!
bed HERE
night stand HERE
dresser HERE
lamp HERE
pillow HERE
wall art HERE
fan HERE
mirror HERE
chair HERE
sheets HERE
quilt HERE
rug HERE

I mean, I plan on there being more art work on the walls, a little reading nook, a book shelf and if we are being honest, a ton of crap strewn all over the floor (true life: Presley pulls everything out of the drawers.)

That's it!

I'm still trying to get over how unemotional Presley was when I was taking apart her crib.  RUDE!

June 11, 2013

excuses, excuses!

Lately, this blog has been one fat suck fest.  I very rarely post and I haven't shared good quality pictures in like four hundred and eleventy days.

Like everything in life these days, I'm blaming PDizzle :)

Girlfriend has become very attached to me and usually doesn't let me out of her sight.  If I try to sit down at the computer she climbs right up in my lap and bangs on the key board!  So, I can't blog when she is awake.  Then, life has just been so dang busy with work and Adam being gone SO much that when Presley finally goes to bed at night I just plop down on the couch and sit in the silence to collect my thoughts (and sanity!)

Single parents out there- you get a "good game" smack on the tail feather.  SHOOT! It's hard!

I am normally off work on Wednesdays so you'd think that I  could sit down then (Presley usually still goes to school even though I am off) but, the last few weeks I have kept her home a lot due to some super fun skin issues she has had.

We really have been doing a lot of fun things lately.  We have spent several weekends out at my Dads house, we recently found a fun splash pad that Presley lurves and have just started planning her 2nd birthday party!

This age, almost 2 years old, is such a double edge sword.  I love that during this stage of her life she is learning SO much, talking all the time, discovering her vivid imagination, showing her true personality and loving (most things) her little life.

But, it also is a very hard stage.  Presley has always been a very determined, stubborn and strong-willed youngin'.  I've been reading all sorts of things about how to talk to and treat your typical 2 year old and it's just...very, very hard when you're in the moment and you're running late for work and GOD FORBID you ask a toddler to sit down and get dressed because that would mean they'd have to move their little midget legs and walk away from the box of wipes that they've already emptied out onto the floor and OH MY LANTA LITTLE EINSTEINS IS ON!!!!!!!!!

So, yeah.

Welcome to my life :)
