takin' care of business

That's what has been going on in our neck of the woods- except that we don't actually live in the woods.  But anywho.  I've seriously logged on to Blogger about 12 times this past week but when it came time to type I had the worlds largest brain fart and couldn't think of anything to write about.  But then I got a text message from my cousin Anna Lisa saying that pretty much her life sucked without me in it and that I need to blog so she can pick herself up off the floor and go forward with her life.  Or maybe that's not what she said.  I'm not really sure. But it was something along the lines of that.  But, if I told you that I've been spending my days lounging on the beach, and my nights eating ridiculously good food you might become particularly jealous of our current lifestyle.  And I don't blame you :)

Adam has been going to his Dads work for the past few days to learn a little bit about how a business works.  His Dad is part owner of a lumber yard here in Venice so Adam has been visiting all of the departments that go along with all of that.  He's usually pretty tired by the end of the day...welcome to the real world Toasty!  He's learned a lot though!

We went up to Sarasota last night to meet up with some friends, then we went cosmic bowling.  Now, I'm not scared to admit that I absolutely suck at bowling.  It's unfortunate at how bad I need the bumpers just so it's not a complete waste of money.  But but BUT add that onto the fact that I was going up against 3 very competitive guys...let's just say it made for a very ugly ending with my score.  It may or may not have been due to the fact that I have an abnormally fat thumb..but that's just a guess.

Adam and some of the guys went golfing today. It was kind of last minute so I didn't have any plans.  Funny thing though- whenever I want to go somewhere it takes Adam light years to get ready.  But, have someone call and ask if he wants to go golfing it takes him about 3 1/2 minutes.

::shoulder shrugs::
I'm just sayin'

Tomorrow we are going to the early service at church, then to the beach with some friends.  But not before we run by Karl's (where we lived in the first part of the off season) because I am like, forty eleventy percent sure that I left one of my favorite dresses over there when I left.  Adam "swears" he looked for it but you know, coming from a man that may mean he opened up the closet door-didn't see it-then went on with his life.

I will come back from the beach tomorrow bearing photos from the beach gathering! But until then here's some pics from my phone and our smaller camera that we've taken recently.

who's having fun in Florida?!

We are!  Turns out, summer time in FL is tons more fun that baseball! It probably helps that his parents like 5 minutes from the beach, but that's just a guess :) Just a short little post to show you what we've been up to..you know, besides figuring out where in tarnation we are going with our life from here on out...

Getting ready to snorkel..or not..a wee bit murky on this day!

Toasty being such a pretty little model

Besides beachin' it..Adam has been doing some fishing.  He caught this chunker today!

And we've been swimming!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

the most eventful week...ever.

Well, I hope your sitting down while reading this..because if you don't stalk me aren't my friend on Facebook, this may come as a huge surprise.  The past few days have been a roller coaster of events and emotions for the both of us.  Adam quit the baseball team this past Sunday.  It's been floating around in his mind for quite some time now, and on Sunday the decision was made.  Needless to say, when I got a text message saying "I'm about to make a big decision, I would like to talk to you first" I knew what it was about.  It's not like he just had a few bad games and gave up, though.  It's been a rough ride ever since last baseball season in Salt Lake City.  He didn't do as well as he would have liked to last season, and when this off season rolled around and finding a team to sign with looked less and less likely..that's when it all started.  Independent ball (for Adam at least) means that the end of the road to the big leagues is nearing.  And that's the whole goal for Adam, get to the big leagues.  My heart is broken for him, he's worked his whole life to play just one game in the big leagues.   We both know that even getting to triple-a is a pretty big deal, so he's not ungrateful for the past 5 years in SLC at all. We just weren't expecting it to be over this soon.  Trust me when I say I spend every night praying that this is God's plan for us, the baseball life or the real world, and if it's not then I pray we seek his plan and that's where our comfort lies. The shock is slowly wearing off and now it's really time to take care of bidness! We were very grateful to get to experience everything we did while in Long Island. It was definitely something that we will never forget (look for a post in the near future about a few happenings that went on during our one month stay). But I must say, I won't really miss that place! I can't help but be a little bit excited about what's going to happen in the next few months! While, baseball is all we know and all we have been surrounded with during our 4 1/2 year relationship, it's probably going to be a little weird to not have to plan every. single. thing. we do around baseball.  But like I said, there's a lot of planning going on right now about the future.

Adam got drafted out of the University of Alabama as a junior so he still has to finish school.  That is the number one priority.  He is a Finance major, but that's not really something he's interested in doing.  So right now he's trying to figure out what he wants to finish his degree in.  We've talked about everything from a Business degree, all the way to him going to Med School. The latter one being an adventure in and of itself, but he's pretty much a genius and could totally do it.  Then there's the desire for him to be a baseball coach.  But like, high school? College? Minor leagues? Who knows!

Anywho, so that's the low down on what's been going on.  As soon as Adam called me on Sunday, he started packing and when I got off work I went home to finish.  We left New York Monday morning and drove all the way to Fayetteville, NC.  We drove from there to his parents house in Venice, FL yesterday and we plan on being here for a few weeks until we can figure out what to do from here.  A lot going on, that's fo sho! Oh hey, I have a brilliant idea..let's get married sooner!!! Yeah, or not. But seriously, HURRY UP OCTOBER!

Well, that's it for now..if anyone needs me you can find me on the beach getting my tan on.  Holla!

Finally Home!

Adam finally came home Sunday night! Trust me, nobody was more excited than I was! I was supposed to work on Sunday but SURPRISE..it was too cold.  I'm not even kidding, Mother Nature is on my $#!* list right now that's for sure.  I also worked for a few hours on Monday, although nobody was golfing, I still hung around so I would at least have some hours on the clock.  Tomorrow is supposed to be raining, just my luck! I know it will warm up, I've just got to be patient. I'm okay with it right now because I want to spend as much time with Toasty as I can :)

Let me just tell you how boring it is to be home by myself for that long.  Remember how miserable I was in the Dominican Republic? Well, I don't think it's that bad..but it's borderline..socially wise.  I end up spending most of my time at Barnes & Noble because at least when I'm here, there are other people around me.  At the apartment it's just me, the tv, and the couch.  I'm not even kidding when I say I've resorted to talking to myself.  The kicker was the other night- I went to Outback to pick up my take out, then went to Blockbuster to rent "It's Complicated" (which, by the way, is hilarious.  I saw it in theaters and had to rent it again asap). Pretty much I was throwing myself a Pity Party.

I'll give you a minute to throw me one, too.

...Thanks...

So there I am..eating my steak...with my plastic fork and knife...and then I try to hook up the DVD player.  We have an old school tv so I'm thinking this should be easy because there's not that many holes where wires can plug into.  After about, oh, I don't know, 45 minutes of trying different ways to hook each plug and wire up into different ways, I knew it wasn't going to happen. So what did I do? Well, like every other mature 24 year old would do...I cried.  I sat in the middle of our den and cried like a toddler who just had my favorite toy taken from me at pre-school. Then then THEN, as I was walking into the bedroom to pout some more go to bed, I saw a spider that was most likely the size of a small child.  After I ended it's life I just went to bed, I had enough!

Anywho, now that he's home I'm all happy and giddy :)  He had an off day yesterday so when I was done with work we went to Outback for dinner, it was sooo good! I had planned on going to the game tonight, but like I said before, it's c-o-l-d.  But...Adam got his first home run of the season!!!!!!!! YAY!!!! I was clapping my little heart out here in B&N..people probably think I'm a big weirdo-which I am, but don't tell the others.

Well, that's enough rambling for tonight.

Love, peace, chicken grease...

this message is brought to you by a very bored & lonely Lindsay.

So, along with many other things I try to not complain about, something I just can't deal with is not having any of my baseball girls to hang out with! You can't (or maybe you can) imagine how bad road trips flat out suck when you have nobody to hang out with, lay out with, or just talk to! When Adam is gone I literally come to Barnes & Noble and sit. I've "Googled" and "YouTubed" everything under the sun just to waste time! It beats sitting at the apartment by myself.  Except when Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, or Housewives are on. Then it's great because I don't have to bite Adams head off every time he talks when the shows are on.  It's a much safer place when he just leaves during those time frames. Anyways, I'm going to work on Sunday and I am going to tell them that I'd like to work more when Adam is gone so I will stay busy!

What's great about Indy Ball though, is that Adam is only gone a few days at a time! They still have to go to two different cities for each road trip, but in between traveling they come home for a night then leave the next morning for the next city! Like, on Wednesday they left  to go to Newark for a few games, and Adam surprised me last night and told me they were coming home last night! Now granted, he had to be back at the field at 10 am this morning but still!!!!! I at least got to see him for a little bit! They will be home Sunday night then will be home for a 6 day home stand! Adam has been doing great in the games! Here are his stats as of right now, I think..
Season Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO AVG
Summer 2010 Long Island Ducks 12 44 10 10 4 0 0 6 8 10 .227

Well, I'd love to write more, but I'm about to starve to death..Chipotle is calling my name!

Make sure you check out the Mothers Day post below!

Happy Mother's Day!

Adam & I are truly blessed to have such great Moms! We hate that we can't be there with them on Sunday, but are wishing them the best on this years Mother's Day! We love you!

Mom, we need more pictures of you. Preferably not in your pajamas.  Note taken.

Adam, his Dad, and his wonderful Mom!

workin' woman

Yesterday I had my first full day at work! Last weekend I was supposed to work, but it rained both days..boo! I don't have a specific time that I have to be there, but on Sundays we can't sell alcohol until 12:00.  I can go in earlier and sell everything else, but the other workers said that a lot of the time I will get a lot of flack from the golfers about not selling them any beer.  I ended up going out around 11:30 and had a few people try to talk me into selling them beer early, and I finally caved in at 11:50 :) The day went by really fast, and I had a lot of fun! Turns out, people in New York reallllllllly love beer & golf. More specifically, Coors Light & golf.  Just thought I'd let you in on that little tid bit, I'm sure you were all dying  to know.  Probably not though.  I got a few comments on my driving skills.  Apparently I look like a kangaroo on wheels out on the course.  What can I say, I go really fast and there's hidden bumps in the grass! I like to make an entrance.

It definitely gets more interesting as the day goes on.  The more beer you sell, the crazier the people get.  Now, I did sell a lot of other things besides beer, but that's no fun to talk about.  You'd be surprised at how many golfers wanted to buy me a drink whenever they bought one.  I'm all,"Uhhhh hello, (a) you saw my driving skillz didn't you?  (b) it can only get worse with alcohol, and (c) I'm most likely not allowed to drink on the job.  Just guessing on that last one. DUH." Seriously though, people are crazy.

I did have a few encounters with some really rude people but I just learned to drive right past them and pretend I never saw them.  Maybe they got the hint.  I'm mainly talking to the guy who insisted I drive all the way to the bar to get him a hot dog (which I didn't have to do, by the way) and then when I finally found him to give it to him, he snatched the hot dog and told me to "get the hell out of there"..Uhhhh, hellur? I know he wasn't talkin' to me. Se-cur-ity! Sah-curity! (Bon Qui Qui anyone? No..Google it. You will die.)

Then there's the really nice crazy guys.  Specifically the guy with the crazy hair in the Hawaiian themed shirt.  Y'all, seriously, I would see this dude flagging me down from miles away. Loved that guy.  Well, not really him, but mainly his tipping skillz.

Look out Toasty, Mama's bringin' home the $$dough$$ !!!!!!

I was supposed to work today, but Mother Nature said "no ma'am" and I said "thank you".  Why? Because I picked Adam up at the field at midnight last night! Oh snap! They played a few games in Maryland, came home last night, had today off, and and AND have tomorrow off! We literally lounged around all day today, then went to Chipotle & now we are at Barnes & Noble!  We were planning on going into NYC tomorrow but it's supposed to rain some more. We have a lot of errands to run, too, so we will probably just do that! Adam said something about taking me to the spa.  Actually he didn't. I made that up but I am most definitely going to suggest it. Beg. Plead. Whatever it takes.

A baseball update it going to be coming soon. I know I've been lame and haven't taken any pictures, but I am always scared to take our camera out because I don't want someone to steal Big Bertha (that's our cameras name). Speaking of naming our camera, did you know that a few years ago Adam and I got a new iPod and named it Black Bastard? True story, and it's stuck ever since then. Sure we get a few weird looks when Adam says,"Did you bring Black Bastard?" and I'm all,"yeah he's in my purse."  We don't ever call it "the iPod" or anything. I digress.

Well, B&N is closing, so we need 'ta go, need 'ta go..sorry, more Bon Qui Qui.
